Compare number origins for an X SMS
X may send an SMS while adding or changing a phone number, or while using a configured login-verification method. Determine which destination the current X screen names before choosing an activation.
An OTPAtlas X offer can provide a short SMS number for a new-number step if X accepts it. It cannot collect a code sent to a phone already attached to the account. X's help also recommends keeping backup access for two-factor authentication.

A matching prefix does not mean the same X phone destination
If X lets you enter a new phone, choose that number’s actual country in both forms and keep X selected in OTPAtlas. If the login screen shows a previously linked phone, another number sharing its prefix is not the same contact.
What changing country cannot establish: Compare countries for the new-number purchase only. A foreign or local prefix does not change X’s account-level verification and recovery rules.

Check the destination shown by X
X's help describes an SMS code when a user adds a phone to an account. It also describes text codes for accounts using SMS two-factor authentication. A code for an already linked number goes to that existing number; a newly purchased activation cannot receive it. Check the masked phone or method on the current screen first.
X has separate phone-number and two-factor help for common problems. A failed sign-in may have an account-specific recovery or backup-code route; use that route rather than repeatedly buying new numbers for a code addressed elsewhere.
Choose a country for a new number
When X permits you to supply a new phone, choose X in OTPAtlas Prices and set the country matching the form. Use the number's actual country rather than relying only on its calling prefix. Follow X's instructions for international digits where its country selector is separate.
The directory is broad, but a service-country listing is not live stock. A promotional rate may be displayed before availability is confirmed; a current supplier offer and order quote are still required before purchase. Add transfers the selected pair to your dashboard for that review.
Watch the active SMS attempt
After confirmation and successful assignment, the dashboard shows the phone number and actual expiry. Enter it into the X step that accepts a new number, request the code on X and follow the OTPAtlas SMS tab. If X rejects the number before sending, read its error. OTPAtlas cannot override the platform's acceptance decision.
If X indicates that it sent a code, compare the masked destination with the assigned number, then check the order's received messages and status. X's own resend or waiting instructions take precedence over repeated blind requests.
Keep the account accessible
X's two-factor guidance describes backup codes for losing access to a phone. Store them securely and review the account's available security methods while signed in. A one-time SMS activation expires and does not promise future delivery to the same number.
If no SMS arrives during an active order, inspect the exact status and any eligible no-message cancellation. A returned OTPAtlas account credit addresses the order charge; it does not recover an X account or change X's phone rules.
X SMS verification FAQ
Can I receive an X login code sent to my old number?
Not with a new activation. The code goes to the number already configured on that account.
When would a new number help?
Only when X's current flow permits you to enter and verify a new phone number and accepts that number.
Are X and Twitter separate OTPAtlas entries?
Yes. Select the service label that matches the supplier option and the X flow you are using; the entries are not automatically interchangeable.
Does Add charge my balance?
No. It carries the pair to a refreshed dashboard offer; a separate confirmation is required.
Can I rely on this number for future X two-factor codes?
No. A one-time activation does not promise the same number after its expiry.
What if X never sends a text?
Check the destination and X's prompt first, then the active order and its final status before another purchase.
