Read the available methods first
Microsoft's personal-account guidance says SMS is being phased out as a verification and recovery method, and its security-info help warns that adding a new phone number may not be offered. An OTPAtlas Microsoft row does not mean your account will present an SMS field. Follow the method shown, such as email, Microsoft Authenticator or a passkey, when SMS is absent.
Work and school accounts differ: their permitted security information and verification methods can depend on an organization's settings. If your sign-in screen offers no SMS choice, buying a number cannot create one.
Use a country filter only for a real SMS prompt
If Microsoft genuinely asks for a new phone number and offers a text code, choose Microsoft in OTPAtlas Prices and select the matching country. Read the sender's phone field instructions and do not duplicate a prefix already supplied by its country selector.
The directory lists possible service-country searches and may display a promotional rate before stock is known. Current availability requires a matching supplier offer, and its order quote is reviewed in your account. If no offer appears, there is no Microsoft activation to buy from that pair at the moment.
Review and follow the assigned order
Add takes the selection to your dashboard for sign-in, a refreshed offer and explicit confirmation. The minimum account funding amount is distinct from one activation's price. A successful order shows the assigned number and exact expiry; then enter it only into Microsoft's active SMS form and watch the OTPAtlas SMS tab.
If Microsoft rejects the phone or changes the prompt to another method, follow that screen. If it says a text was sent, compare the exact destination and order state. A message delivered to OTPAtlas does not guarantee that Microsoft accepts the code for that account.
Secure later access with a lasting method
Microsoft recommends keeping security information current and describes Authenticator, email and passkeys among available choices. A short SMS activation expires; it should not be a relied-on recovery channel for a Microsoft account you need to keep.
For an unresolved work or school sign-in, use the organization's support process when methods are set by an administrator. For any unanswered OTPAtlas order, review its cancellation or expiry outcome before purchasing another code.
