WHATSAPP / SMS VERIFICATION WhatsApp registration is tied to a phone number you own and can receive calls or texts on. Existing WhatsApp guidance and sources below still apply. ## Start with WhatsApp's registration rules WhatsApp's help says an active phone number must be registered and its owner must be able to receive a registration code. It lists VoIP, toll-free, paid premium and universal access numbers as unsupported; consumer WhatsApp also excludes landlines. WhatsApp Business has a separate landline exception. An OTPAtlas service label and a visible price do not tell you whether a particular supplier line passes these checks. If WhatsApp immediately reports an unsupported number, waiting for an SMS cannot fix that eligibility error. Use a number meeting WhatsApp's rule rather than buying another activation on the same assumption. ## Choose the region and read the live offer Set the country in WhatsApp's registration form, then choose that same country in OTPAtlas Prices. Read the full international number format on the sender form; a separate country selector may already supply the prefix. A shared calling code does not make two countries interchangeable. The catalogue is a directory, and a promotional rate may be displayed even before availability is known. Ordering requires a current supplier offer for the exact WhatsApp and country pair and a refreshed quote in your account. Add carries the selection there for review. The minimum account top-up, if needed, is separate from one activation's price. ## Watch the actual registration attempt After successful assignment, OTPAtlas shows the number and its expiry. Enter the number in WhatsApp, request a code there, and follow the OTPAtlas SMS tab while the order is active. WhatsApp may offer a call route after its timer, but an SMS-only activation should not be assumed to receive a voice call. Follow WhatsApp's resend timer rather than repeatedly guessing a code. If no text arrives, check that WhatsApp accepted the number, the digits match and the order is still active. The order's final status determines any eligible account credit. ## Keep ownership in mind WhatsApp's own guidance says you can register only a number you own. A temporary activation does not provide lasting control of that phone number. If this WhatsApp account matters after today, use a number that will remain yours for future registration, device changes and account recovery. ## WhatsApp SMS verification FAQ **Does WhatsApp accept every virtual number?** No. WhatsApp excludes several number types, including VoIP, and decides eligibility for each registration attempt. **Can I use a landline for ordinary WhatsApp?** WhatsApp's help excludes landlines from the consumer app; WhatsApp Business has different guidance. **Will OTPAtlas receive a WhatsApp phone call?** Do not assume an SMS activation includes voice calling.
